Rome, 1802. First Roman edition of a Marian devotional treatise by an anonymous Camaldolese hermit of Monte Corona, following the 1778 Venetian edition. Printed by Luigi Perego Salvioni "con facoltà" (with ecclesiastical license). Period half-leather binding, gilt-decorated spine and title label, boards in block-printed floral paper, red-sprinkled edges, and a woodcut of the Virgin on the title page. Ex-library: two stamps (a seminary in Roviano, near Rome, and a French-language library) plus a manuscript shelf mark. Condition: worn corners and head/tail of spine, small wormholes on the spine, browned paper with a few stains; text block complete, binding solid. A handsome, honest copy with a documented journey from Rome all the way to Quebec.
